Grainger is a highly accomplished Graphic Designer with over 25 years’ experience. He works on design projects for architects, developers, large and small corporations, not-for-profits, NGOs, agencies and government departments.
Grainger applies his enthusiasm for design to all projects, from the small to the more significant, giving as much care and attention to typesetting a headline as to creating a large-scale illustrated mural.
He takes a hands-on, collaborative approach to develop and fine-tune designs that address the challenges faced by his clients, and produce solutions that meet these challenges creatively, engagingly and effectively.
Grainger produces designs that work—to help you achieve the best possible outcomes for your business.
Over the course of his career spanning back to the early 1990s, Grainger has accumulated a wealth of branding and design knowledge through working with many commercial, government and charitable organisations, with work awarded by the Perth Advertising Design Club (PADC) and numerous PICA awards.
Grainger began his design journey by completing a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Design from Curtin University Western Australia and immediately after started freelancing to Perth design and advertising agencies.
His work with John Davis Advertising was so successful it continued for 8 years—working on design projects and collaborating with the agency’s Creative Directors’ on a broad scope of projects for the City of Perth, Multiplex, Homebuyers Centre, Transperth, Jones Lang LaSalle and Alinta Gas.
Grainger co-founded Trilogy in 2003; an advertising agency consisting of a small team producing a high volume of work for a range of clients. As Design Director, he managed the artwork production team, oversaw production systems and worked on print advertising, poster design, corporate branding, and direct mail for some great clients and West Australian brands such as Kleenheat, P&N and Clairault Wines.
After leaving the agency, Grainger spent some time specialising in architectural and place-making design, working on significant Perth property developments such as one40willaim and City Square (Now Brookfield). He later set up the Grainger Studio to focus on bespoke design projects and collaborations whilst continuing to work on long-lasting client’s such Whistler’s Chocolate Company, who he has partnered with since the mid nineteen-nineties.
In 2014, Grainger was inspired to bring both his professional and personal support to the cause of promoting organ donation, when a close friend was on the waiting list for a liver transplant. Together with several friends, Grainger helped create a new charitable organisation with the aim of raising awareness of organ donation among young adults. Grainger developed the identity for the new organisation—Donor Mate—a logo and a website, along with high impact outdoor campaigns for several sporting events, successfully promoting organ donation through a uniquely humorous, tongue-in-cheek tone. All of this work was provided as a pro-bono project.
Currently Grainger continues to support the efforts of Donor Mate, as well as working on other projects in the charitable, environmental, architectural, and retail sectors.
